The following prayers and scripture passages remind us of what we have because of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Monday, April 19. “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:12-13). Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection and my belief in Him, I am forgiven and empowered to forgive others.
Tuesday, April 20. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’” (John 11:25-26). Because Jesus is the resurrection and the life and I belong to Him, I have eternal life.
Wednesday, April 21. “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God” (I John 4:7). In Jesus death and resurrection, He showed His amazing love for us, and empowered us, through His Spirit, to know the depths of that love, and to love others.
Thursday, April 22. “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy” (I Peter 2:9-10). Because of Jesus’ death on the cross and the mighty power shown in His resurrection, He opened the way for us to belong to God, to be His chosen people.
Friday, April 23. “‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’ But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Corinthians 15: 54b, 57). Thank you Jesus, for the hope we have because sin and death no longer have the final say!
Saturday, April 24. “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (I Corinthians 15:28). Lord, help us to give ourselves fully to the work you put before us, knowing we do not do it in vain.
Sunday, April 25. “But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus“ (Ephesians 2:4-7).
